Organophosphorus flame retardants in children’s car seats: Implications for vehicle air quality

چکیده
Flame retardants (FRs) are used in many consumer products for fire safety reasons. Their use children’s car seats may result and vehicle occupants’ exposure to these compounds including inhalation through poor air quality. We have tested several from local retailers the presence of FRs. A number organophosphorus flame (OPFRs) were identified extracts (dichloromethane) eight foam materials taken seats. They included organophosphates (triethyl phosphate (TEP) (detected all 8 samples) followed by tris(butoxyethyl) (2), triphenyl (1), di-(t-butylphenyl) phenyl (1) butyl diethyl tris(4-tert-butylphenyl) (1)) organophosphonates (two isomers 5-ethyl-2-methyl-2-oxido-1,3,2-dioxaphosphinan-5-yl)methyl methyl methylphosphonate (PMMMP) 5 ethylphosphonate 4-methoxy-2-methylbutyl ethyl butylphosphonate (1)). TEP was most frequently detected among OPFRs. Due its relatively high vapour pressure (0.39 mm Hg at 25 °C) OPFRs, is likely emit into interior during product use, which could children using seat other passengers. therefore emission rate a micro-chamber 40 °C estimating potential occupants. The profile shows concentrations chamber reached maximum within first few hours then decreased over time. There lack correlation between 24-hour average product. exact health risk occupants this case requires further research quantify.

Organophosphorus Flame Retardants (OPFR): Neurotoxicity
Organophosphorus flame retardants (OPFRs) are used as additives in plasticizers, foams, hydraulic fluids, anti-foam agents, and coatings for electronic components/devices to inhibit flames. These chemicals were developed and used as flame retardants because of environmental and health concerns of previously used brominated and chlorinated flame retardants (FRs). OPCFRs are divided into five mai...

The levels, distribution, and possible sources of 12 organophosphorus flame retardants and plasticizers, some of which are reported to be toxic to aquatic organisms, were investigated in samples of influents, effluents, and sludge from 11 Swedish sewage treatment plants (STPs). The organophosphorus compounds (OPs) studied were poorly removed from the wastewater; especially the chlorinated OPs t...
متن کاملOrganophosphorus flame retardants (PFRs) and plasticizers in house and car dust and the influence of electronic equipment.
All nine PFRs studied were detected in house and car dust from the Netherlands with the exception of tris(butyl) phosphate (TNBP) and tris(isobutyl) phosphate (TIBP) in car dust. Tris(2-butoxyethyl) phosphate (TBOEP, median 22 μg g(-1)) was dominant in house dust collected around and on electronics followed by tris(2-chloroisopropyl) phosphate (TCIPP, median 1.3 μg g(-1)), tris(2-chloroethyl) p...
